How to choose the right cable
- Cat 6 or Cat 6A? Cat 6 is enough for 1 Gbps offices and typical networks. Choose Cat 6A for 10 Gbps, Wi-Fi 6/6E, many IP cameras or PoE++ devices.
- UTP or shielded? U/UTP suits most offices. Use F/UTP or S/FTP near heavy electrical equipment, in hospitals, factories and data centers.
- LSZH or PVC? LSZH gives low smoke and no halogen in a fire, and is usually required in public buildings, banks and hospitals. PVC is a lower-cost option where the specification allows it.
- Copper or fiber? Use copper for horizontal runs up to 90 m to each outlet. Use fiber for backbones, risers, data center links and connections between buildings.
- Fire rating Check the CPR class in your consultant's specification (Dca, Cca or B2ca) and send it with your request.
