How to choose a fire alarm system
- Conventional or addressable? Conventional systems divide the building into zones and suit small sites. Addressable systems identify each detector individually and suit medium and large buildings, banks and hospitals.
- Panel capacity Count the devices and loops you need now and leave spare capacity for future expansion.
- Brand and approvals Check which brands and approvals (such as UL or EN 54) your consultant's specification requires.
- Cable Fire-resistant cable keeps alarm circuits working during a fire. Check the fire-resistance rating in your specification, and use LSZH in public buildings.
